Reaching For The Sun
Visual System
Brand Identity
I led and designed Reaching For The Sun from the first sketches to the final frame, shaping nearly every piece of design along the way. The film is a short documentary about the fragility of memory and how Alzheimer’s reshapes our connections.
My role was to create a visual system that carried both the weight of the subject and a sense of hope. I set the direction and designed the identity: a colour palette drawn from shifting sunlight, from dusk to dawn, symbolising the journey from the disease’s darkness to the light of medical progress.
I also developed collage illustrations to reflect memory’s fragmented nature and crafted a hand-drawn typeface to give the story a human, imperfect touch.
For me, it was more than design, it was about making memory visible in a way that felt honest, delicate, and hopeful.

Balancing sensitivity and clarity was central to the process. Alzheimer’s carries a heavy emotional weight, and the visual language needed to respect that without becoming overwhelming or distant. The system had to hold fragility and hope at once, creating space for reflection while still guiding the viewer through a narrative that feels human, intimate, and grounded.
At the same time, translating something as intangible as memory into visual form required constant restraint. Fragmentation, distortion, and imperfection could easily become aesthetic rather than meaningful. Every element had to serve the story, allowing the visuals to echo the instability of memory while maintaining coherence, ensuring the film remained accessible, delicate, and emotionally resonant.
